Re: Where is everyone?

Five weeks after surgery, I'm getting around pretty well—no crutches, walker, or cane. No pain medicine for several days, and sleeping better.

Driving my stick-shift is like before surgery—good. The leg is remains swollen, but less-so every day. I'll see the doctor in two days, and will report on my progress, and see if he's happy with what he'd done!

Re: Where is everyone?

After just ten days after surgery, the doctor asked me if I could drive—and I said, I thought I could, yes.

Oops...currently make that 6½ weeks after surgery.

I seem to have skipped a couple of weeks.

Re: Where is everyone?

Tuesday, I went to the knee surgeon as scheduled. Six weeks after surgery, he's OK with my progress—and didn't schedule a follow-up appointment. (!)

I need to find a four-wheeled walker to "finish off" my PT. Leaving my other doctor's office, I walked by the Rehab center I preferred but didn't use. There, I was told they have them for free (on loan) at my "Senior Center" nearby. (Run by AARP).

Now, early this morning, my knee is not "overheated", and there's no pain—but both conditions will change after lunch, even with cold-packs applied. I'm still walking with a limp, and easily tire of walking, as I found out yesterday. My afternoons are not like my mornings.

The little "tree house" in the Florida Keys:

I found out last night that the price is "almost a firm" price. When its address came on the market, my realtor, who lives nearby, didn't know where it was!

The road, already not easy to find, isn't marked with a sign. Only one neighbor on the street, and nobody-else around for many, many forested acres. The house proper can't be seen from the roadways, so that's why the exterior photos were taken from a helicopter. The view-out can be managed by trimming trees. Lots of pictures here:

If sold, any rent must not exceed the "maximum rent of $1800/mo."

A Realtor-friend in Wolfeboro might be interested. Last summer, she was looking for a mobile home in a nearby shoreline community called "Venture Out". When I dialed her number by accident, she still hadn't acted on that possibility.

No friends of yours interested? 'Course, this is a "bad" Northern winter to try to sell Florida's warmth and coconut trees.

76 degrees presently. This week has been very windy, and today is supposed to be even stronger! Strong and/or constant SE winds is what sold me on this location, but forced me to install a stainless steel two-handed grip on the door—which opens into the wind. My tax papers, which are assembled on the kitchen table could be blown away if there was a window open anywhere else in the house!

Poor mosquitoes must be starving!

 ;)

Looks like there's a "good" contract on the little tree house. Oh well...

Walking is a little less difficult just about every day. I pick up my 4-wheel walker today for more intense PT.

While I have an "ocean view", a shorefront neighbor is trying to buy the one little house that sits directly in my view of the ocean—raze it—and turn it into an abutting tropical garden. (!) No sale as yet.

Well, after less than a week using it, I've returned the four-wheel walker. It worked well, but I should have been using it weeks earlier.

My walking gait is almost back to normal, but still don't have the full flexion to navigate "taller" stairs, or to kneel on the affected leg.

My visiting physical therapists continue to remark that I have an excellent surgical scar. (And, compared to my other scars, it is remarkably unnoticeable).

PT continues, though I leave here April 1st for my favorite sailing waters—upstate.

It's 58 degrees outside in my favorite sailing location. (Nobody else out on the lake). 'Guess there'll be no sailing until later this morning. Don't think my knee will be a problem, although I tend to massage it while sitting.

Most of the day, I don't think about it any more, though the entire leg is somewhat swollen. ('Doc said that'll go away after six months). A friend suggested "Lymphatic Therapy Massage". It returns lymph back into its usual location—in nodes located elsewhere in the body.

Never heard of it!
