Re: Where is everyone?

Did the Dr tell you you shouldn't travel after? I expect for a month you will not want to move much. Two more weeks and you will start going out and doing more. Then I think the worst is over. I hope I never have to have it. I don't know who would wait on me. I honestly think it is good for you to have to do for yourself though. You will be walking the next day after surgery just not that well. It is amazing really

CW, I wish you all the best of luck with your knee! Mine have been acting up, just starting I should say.... I have no idea what I would do if I had to do that anytime soon....

Sorry I've been absent, but Windows 10 put me off my usual schedule.

As for surgery, I've delayed it long enough.

If your knee is giving "twinges" of pain, there is a less-invasive treatment to remove the fragment of cartilage that it causing the pain. Even after that, there is a nearly painless injection of a cortisone, which can be repeated three times before a surgery. I have one injection left, but relief is only for about eight months, and I don't want to have difficulties when I'm more active and up north. (More stairs there than here).

Another "dodge" is a series of 4-5 weekly hyaluronic acid injections, but results are mixed. I had them, and it got me through the summer. Included was a supplement, "InstaFlex", which I feel was worth it—until now.

"Total Knee Replacement" is scheduled for me on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

I don't like to think about while I can still wobble upstairs emoticon but I do need to be mobile at the lake this summer.

I'll be in a special hospital unit for four days, and then I get released. Stairs will be a challenge, but that's where my bedroom and living room are!

 :eek2:

If they let me charge my cell phone, I'll let you know that everything went as good as can be expected.

There will be about four weeks when I won't feel like getting out of bed, and no word on how long before I can drive. (Six-eight weeks?) My car is short in the front legroom department, so driving anywhere may take awhile.

You will get out of bed and will be walking around, but you will feel it for four weeks. You will mostly want to sit I think. And you will curse your therapist!! I dread the day I will need it done. I hope never, having seen it first hand with the better half. But there are worse things that can happen to you!!

OK, Cathy Sykes has left us alone. (I didn't see her, but my spies did). emoticon

The really good news is that I've had the surgery, and I'm out of a 24/7 rehab facility. emoticon

While it's been 23 days, I'm not feeling like moving around much, and still taking pain pills.

A nurse is to appear at home here today, and I'll gather whatever news I can about my so-called abilities.

Afternoon rehab tomorrow!
