posticon Grunter: Brewster Hall is Moving Out...

June 12, 2014
WOLFEBORO — Acting Town Manager Rob Houseman announced at the June 4 selectmen's meeting that the move of town employees from Brewster Memorial Hall to temporary offices in the old part of Huggins Hospital may be delayed a week or two, from the week of July 14 up to the end of July.

The reasons were 1) architects NCA and construction manager CCI may not have finished plans for the inside work available for work to begin as planned on July 21; and 2) the rent on the temporary offices does not begin until the move, so not moving too early will save money. NCA needs to provide demolition plans before work can start.

During the week of the move town offices will be closed: Monday and Tuesday will be spent packing; Wednesday will be move day so staff will be absent; and Thursday and Friday will be spent unpacking at Huggins.

Houseman reported that Dave O'Brien has started as clerk of the works; that the contract with CCI has been set up in two phases; and that the insurance issue has been settled. The town clock will continue to function during construction and the landscape garden just installed out front will be maintained undisturbed.

Houseman reported that he and Municipal Electric Director of Operations Barry Muccio defined storage locations for town long term files and furniture in the upper level of the electric building. Tarps will be laid down and the stored items will also be covered with tarps. According to Houseman there is not enough room in the leased hospital space for all furniture and files now in Town Hall."
