Accessing old Granite State News Articles

Looking through old letters from my grandfather, I came across an article from the GSN from 1978. It's a very poor photocopy and I'd like to get a much better copy if I could.

Anyone know the best way to do this remotely? I don't have a subscription so I can't access their webpage, but do they go back that far in their online archives?

Does the Wolfeboro Public Library keep it on microfiche?

I wonder if my local library might have it on microfiche. I'll check when I go this evening.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, y'all!

I think most of us would appreciate your efforts in this—so, good luck to you.

Come to think of it, I'd like to have a copy of GSN's account of the time I showed up at Huggins with a bloody head wound. The paper wrote I'd been struck by an outboard...

 :eek2:

While that information involved the correct two essentials, I'd been swimming around the moored family boat: when I surfaced at the transom, I'd forgotten that the outboard motor had been tilted up out of the water. (So it was the innocent outboard that'd been struck by my head).

Back when The Granite State News went on-line—back when it was free—they had a great archive search function. Unfortunately, it only went back to about the year 2000, and the programmer lost the entire archive from then.

Alternatively, someone with Photoshop might be able to restore a suitable copy.

Photoshop unfortunately won't help in this case.

I checked at our Genie library and they don't have the GSN on microfiche, but they did have a subscription of some sort that let them see that the archives only go back to 2007.

I might need to use that email address (thank you!) but I'm going to do a bit more sniffing around first.

Hi BSG.

I have the last year or so of the Granite archived on my computer, updated weekly. If you have the date of a recent Granite, I can post your wishes here, or email screenshots of your selections to you if you let me know your email address. Feel free to ask.

Thanks, Norman! That is very kind of you.

I'm looking for some articles from 1978. I think I'm going to have to look them up on Microfiche at the town library when I return.
