Wolfeboro Pics

It's 80 degrees in LA today. I do miss the north east this time of year! Anyone have any recent town pics to share? They would be greatly appreciated!

1963 Ford Wagon pulling into Horne's lot, so about 1963. Dorothy Gould owned the Dime Store and Durgin Block and was a Kingswood Bank founder.

Nice one, CW! And kudos to Norman for the info!

I'll take photos from any era, I suppose!

I have heard of the dime store's legend but I always thought it was where Ben Franklin's was (and I think a furniture store is there now).

Two different stores and two different legends. The dime store you remember was run by Stewart and Jean Stinchfield and came after Gould's. The furniture store (Huffington's) died in Wolfeboro and the store is now vacant.

Wow - the store is vacant now. :( Sad to hear. I had a lot of fun shopping in there with my allowance money when it was Ben Franklins! And, I got some great Hitchcock pieces from the furniture store.

I can't believe it's vacant! :( When I was in town this summer I didn't get up there to check out that store.

But, I was pretty impressed with the "Romney-effect" on town. Every time I was out shopping, the stores were PACKED and restaurants were bustling. Town was busier than I'd remembered it being in a long while...

I never thought to blame Romney for that store being vacant.

It was a good summer and town is looking better than ever. I hope the trend continues, even minus the Romney effect. I think the coverage brought Wolfeboro to the attention of a lot of folks who otherwise might not have put Wolfeboro on their wishlist.

I never got to see the inside of the Ben Franklin store—but had been in Stinchfields many times. 'Town was pretty busy the year before:
