Re: Permanent Change of Address : Taz

The memory of a good friend, 2 or 4 legged, is something to cherish and visit often. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. I never knew Taz except through the pics and words here but I know she was a friend indeed.

This is very sad news. I'm terribly sorry to hear about Taz and I'm bummed that I never actually got to meet her in person because she was going to be my fresh corn connection in town...

I'm so sorry. The pix are great. Here's a favorite of mine, from "Song of Myself" by Walt [sign in to see URL] more eloquent a sentiment than I am ever capable of...

I think I could turn and live awhile with the animals....
they are so placid and self-contained,
I stand and look at them sometimes half the day long.
They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is [sign in to see URL] one is demented with the
mania of owning things,
Not one kneels to another nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago,
Not one is resonsible or industrious over the whole earth.
So they show their relations to me and I accept them;
They bring me tokens of [sign in to see URL] evince them plainly in their possession.

And, of course on a lighter [sign in to see URL] suspect that you now have some room for some wayward geese? emoticon
Hang in there,
E.

The corn thing brings back memories. My parents had dropped off a dozen ear of corn since we weren't [sign in to see URL] left it on the porch. When we got home there was nothing left. We didn't even know they had left corn until they asked if we found it. IT was gone, gone, gone. Guess who ate it all? I don't think she got sick though.

Stealing corn was her favorite pastime, but she would usually hang out at the end of the row with a longing look on her face until we said ok. It never made her sick, but we'd limit her to 2 or 3 when she was being a hog. Such characters, huh.
Nice poem, ME. It's not in 'leaves' is it? It's the one book I always have around.

Nope, LV, but close. It's from an anthology of several hundred from
Leaves" and a coupla others. The one I posted is in "Song of Myself", in section (?) 32.
I once adopted a very overweight yellow lab, who we had to put down 6 months later due to kidney failure. His name was Murphy, and he was an absolut riot. We put him on a diet, and I discovered he supplemented by munching on the compost pile after he threw up an entire browned banana (in the skin) and a corn cob, intact.

This is one of those rare times I'm home alone. I was hanging out outside, getting in some duck time, and I got to thinking of Taz. How is the Lettuce family doing? Kitty? LV, did you make her a marker?

Hope all is well.
