Re: Permanent Change of Address : Taz

You guys are gonna make me cry.
The picture was taken about 10 minutes before she died. Of course, she was acting all well and good, making it all the more difficult. But, as the women from Kindness animal hospital explained, it's better that her last day was a good one. Fortunately, they came out here.
She's up on 'the nubble' now, with a picture of the 3 of us, some baseballs she found at foss field, and wildflowers.
So heartbreaking. Thanks, everyone. Taz has been with us since Romaine and I met.
She wasn't well and I didn't want to make the mistake of keeping her around for our sake.
Like OH used to say, or Yoda, you have to appreciate the time you have and be thankful for those that are precious to you.

It was a quote from Yoda I picked up after one of our dogs went to the rainbow bridge to wait for us. It is hard but it is the final act of kindness and the least we can do for them.

quote:

“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is.”

Here is an Eskimo proverb:

quote:

“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”

You made a selfless decision - I know it was a sacrifice for you and Romaine, but I I think you did the right thing.

I'm quite moved that the vet or vet tech traveled to you. I've brought animals in before, but how much kinder for all three of you to have the familiarity of your own home.

I can not even begin to imagine the immediacy of your heartache right now, but I'm glad Taz was comfortable in the end and is at peace.

The last act of kindness still isn't an easy one.

I kept cancelling my dog's appointment one day at a time, until the Saturday before the vet's was going to be closed on Sunday. And that Friday I held my dog all day.

They're missed greatly at these times because "they're always there".

Like I read just yesterday: when you point, a dog will look in the direction you're pointing. When you can't reach a stick, a watching chimpanzee will hand it to you. We're "closer" even more than we think we are.

Still, it's not quite a permanent change of address: though gone, they live on in our hearts and memories.

It was the right decision, but my condolences at a difficult time and decision.

Way to many deaths this past 360 days. Way to many.
Sorry for your loss, honestly.

I have been quiet because the whole Taz situation breaks my heart. The love you guys have for her has always been so obvious and powerful. I hate to think of you good people hurting the way I know you are.

Too much kindness. Knock it off.
It's hard to type when the screen gets blurry.
She was always in the garden. Bad dog!
I'll post pics later that show she was a corn thief.
