Goose, do you still have it? Sounds like it could be entertaining for the setting alone emoticon

I bet the library has a copy. Also, they have a couple of sets of the Bowers history. It was $165 for three volumes when I bought it, and I think it was for sale through the historical society.

I borrowed it to begin with, but it is worth checking out of the library if they have a copy.

Is Walter Bowman still alive? and out on Turtle Island in Lake Wentworth?

I think his neighbor (maybe relative)Goldwaithe had a book about the geology of NH and Lake Wentworth about the same time period- 1950s.

I had Walters book at one time but can't find it now. Its listed on Amazon but out of print.

The writer of the History of Wolfeboro lives just off Forest Road.

McD - I'm looking for a good deal on the three volume set!

On another note - I received a copy of THE HISTORY OF FREMONT, N.H. by Matthew E. Thomas a week or so ago. I know it is not Wolfeboro - but it is a terrific book! The history of the town is written with a wonderfully narrative style that describes so well what it must have been like to live in Fremont during its (actually) very interesting history! Even if you've never been to Fremont it's a great book! With great pictures!

It's $[sign in to see URL] for all three volumes, but volume one is available for $[sign in to see URL]. I think I'll keep my eyes open there.

Great site, thanks!
