Re: Monkey Bread

I've made this forever at xmas... 2 quick tips..
1. put cinnamon sugar mixture in a paper sack and shake small batches of quartered biscuits at a time.

2. To dress up a bit put dried fruit in the bottom of pan (I use red and green Citrons.. dried cherries and green thingys).

Re: Monkey Bread

I'm reviving this thread because today I'm buying my ingredients for Monkey Bread and this year I actually have a bundt pan to make it in (as opposed to the leaky angel food cake pan debaucle of '05).

YAY MONKEY BREAD!

One wonders - could you slice the dough, toss it in the sugar/cinnamon mix, place it in pan, and refrigerate over night? Not that it takes a long time to prepare, but it would be great to do the prep work the night before and just bake in the am...

Re: Monkey Bread

When I used to make Monkey Bread I thawed a loaf of bread dough - that worked just fine too. I made cinnamon pecan rolls this morning because my youngest has to have them for Christmas morning. Prepared the dough last night - very good but they are a lot of work. I might give the monkey bread another try.

Merry Christmas to all.

Monkey Bread was a big hit this morning!

I'm curious about the experiment - what happened?

It didn't rise properly. I let it warm at room temperature about a half hour before baking, but I'm thinking the handling of the dough when coating with cinnamon and sugar warms it beyond what I did while it was all prepped in the pan.
It tasted alright - but it wasn't pretty. I won't be doing it that way again :snorkle:
